Narcolepsy Type 1 Patient Journey

TAK-861 was a new treatment for narcolepsy type 1 (NT1), and the team needed a clear, compelling way to communicate difficulties, stigmas, and pitfalls of life with NT1.

I was tasked with creating the TAK861 Patient Journey Executive Summary, which meant distilling six pages of dense information into something much more digestible—without losing the emotional weight of the patient experience. I went through multiple concepting phases to land on the right visual metaphor, exploring ideas like an uphill road circling a head, a complicated maze, and many more. The final illustration of a treacherous mountain range struck the right balance: With NT1, even daily tasks feel like uphill battles. The client was so delighted with the illustration that they asked us to bring it to life in the form of a video—giving the work an even wider reach and greater impact.
